Stepping into my heart is daily practice for me. When I am not in alignment my body calls for my attention. If I am too in my head I will miss the cue and pain will rise up to remind me. I wrote this poem after healing a back injury with rest and meditation.
Boom boom shake,
My body is awake
I shake the dust from my chest
I dance my way in a circular quest
I laugh, I sing, I jest
My belly soft, body bendy
Hair flowing feeling trendy
Boom boom shake
My body is awake
Steps vibrate
Shifting, mixing, blitzing
Old to new
Known to unknown
Home in my being
Boom boom shake
Hips quake, loose, twist
Dips, dive, Duck, Jive
Lively leaps of joy
Oh Boy!
Boom boom shake
My body is awake
Heart is free
Hips alive
Old bands loose their grip
Slip to the ground, blood pounds
Boom boom shake
From my toes to my nape
My body vibrates
Head follows suit
Suitor to a body tango
Led by heart, a dancing art
The beautiful mess
Twirling in a dress
Under a sunset sky
Tears flow from my eyes
A release so great
My heart an open gate
To receive rest and relaxation
Gentle groove gyration
I'm in it baby girl
Smile, enjoy the twirl
When I'm tired, I rest my feet
Within my heart, I keep the beat
Too fast, slow down
Too slow, speed up
I handle the switch
Inner knowing knows which
Boom boom shake
My body is awake
